Cant connect and takes up too much cache space, need clear option not delete and reinstall
cant connect to internet yet Im always connected whether lte/4g/wifi, yet I cant perform certain actions, right!! Docs did this same bs for a while too, fix!
Also clear cache, must delete and reinstall, app gets many GBs fast storing pics in cache which defeats space saving purpose of this app!
Replaced iOS standard photos app for me with powerful photo delete option... Having a 16gb phone and tons of music means no room for photos. Granted it takes some data to upload to Google, when w/out wifi, but that matters not for most data plans these days, u can upload 1000s of photos/month w/mobile data and still keep it under 6gb/month. But most of us upload on wifi so turning on mobile data for upload is minor. The MAJOR hit has always been to disk space. As a former Dropbox fanboy, I was in the habit of deleting photos constantly from iOSs photos app, a painful cancer to my freedom. Now I can delete from within the Google photos app and it deletes from camera roll ie hard disk (after 30 days). Finally. So iOSs photos app can disappear into my useless folder as Google is all powerful. Obviously the layout, ease of use, sorting, quickness is tops, but knowing that I have free unlimited storage for what is truly a superb resolution with the high quality option is icing on my cake. And peace of mind knowing my photos are always safe is priceless but yet its free!
Only downside was getting my old Dropbox pics over initially. Best workaround when using with google drive is to upload ur entire collection in a web browser like Firefox (if u kept a backup on pc) since the syncing on pc wasnt bringing all my photos stored in Google drive even though they were all there in my drive, on pc, online and in the app. The upload didnt even cause duplicates from the same photos already there! Nice!
And when I used my wifes iPhone to sync to the same Google photos account, it showed a refresh symbol over duplicates so I knew which ones to delete, cool. The whole reason for switching anyway was that I couldnt edit files in Dropbox, like simple grocery lists for example; sad, sad. Now Google drive&photos does it all. It lets me remove from device from the app but keep in the cloud.
I do wish drive had this app combined with its standard functionality instead of separate apps but since I can get rid of iOS photos from my homescreen it broke even. Highly recommend, especially the search features like word and facial recognition!
